$28 Million Reconstruction of I-95 Exit 45 in Maine to Begin Next Week

Update on Maine Turnpike’s I-95 New Gloucester Toll Plaza

Work on Maine I-95 in York Begins Today
Beginning Thursday, January 14, 2016, drilling and excavation crews will be performing work on property owned by the Maine Turnpike Authority located at Mile 8.8.
This geotechnical work is being done for the purpose of allowing more detailed design of an Open Road Tolling (ORT) plaza at Mile 8.8.
Work will occur between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM starting on Thursday, January 14, 2016 and is expected to take place for several days. Lane closures and shoulder closures are anticipated during this time. Please use caution when approaching this area.

I-95 Maine Turnpike Offering Free Coffee to Overnight Travelers During Holidays
The Maine Turnpike Authority is encouraging holiday travelers to take break for safety and will treat I-95 Turnpike customers to a complimentary cup of coffee overnight Christmas Eve into Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights.
According to the National Sleep Foundation’s website, its not always easy to tell when you’re too tired to drive. Some signs that it’s time to pull over are:
- Difficulty focusing, frequent blinking, or heavy eyelids
- Trouble remembering the last few miles driven; missing exits or traffic signs
- Yawning repeatedly or rubbing your eyes
- Drifting from your lane, tailgating, or hitting a shoulder rumble strip
Many travelers will be traveling very late or very early during the holidays and to help them stay alert, complimentary coffee will be offered at all five Maine Turnpike Service Plazas from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Turnpike Service Plazas, operated by HMSH

I-95 travelers looking for a holiday meal can find it quite difficult. You’re tired and hungry so you jump of an exit only to find that every restaurant is closed.
An increasing number of chain restaurants are choosing to remain open during the holidays, or at least opening for limited hours to meet customer demand.
Here’s out list of chain restaurants open for business on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2015. (This listing will be updated as additional information becomes available.)
Restaurants located at Interstate Service Plazas and Welcome Centers may be required to stay open.
