Combining visits to well-known national parks with some lesser-known treasures, the National Park Foundation’s new “Road Trippin'” guide inspires people to find your park during a long weekend getaway with 15 different national park itineraries.

“Our guide details how it’s possible to enjoy a variety of national park experiences in just three days,” said Will Shafroth, president of the National Park Foundation. “Through easy to follow, diverse itineraries, we hope to motivate more people to plan a national park trip of their own.”

Featuring natural, cultural, and historical parks, and a mix of interests and activity levels, the guide’s suggestions include:

For the second consecutive season, the Maid of the Mist will launch on the earliest date in the storied history of one of North America’s longest running tourist attractions.

The 2017 season will begin Saturday, April 1, at 9:00 a.m., from its Niagara Falls, New York, landing. The season runs through November 5. In 2016, the season began April 2.

“Maid of the Mist VI and Maid of the Mist VII are ready to navigate the waters of the Lower Niagara River to the Maid of the Mist Pool at the base of the Horseshoe Falls,” said Christopher Glynn, president of Maid of the Mist.  “Our captains, crew members and associates are prepared to welcome guests from around the world as we build on last year’s record season, when 1.6 million visitors boarded our iconic vessels.

I-95 Gas Price Update – Friday, December 11, 2015

More locations along I-95 are posting gas prices below $2 a gallon for regular unleaded… but you have to be south of Maryland to find them.

The northern segment of I-95 is reporting prices in the $2.05 to $2.30 a gallon range, while prices along the southern segment of I-95 are generally in the $1.80 to $2.05 a gallon range. Connecticut continues to be the state with the highest gas prices along I-95. Bridgeport is reporting $2.35 a gallon for regular unleaded. The lowest gas prices are now in Ashland, ($1.80) and Richmond ($1.81) Virginia and South Carolina, with Santee ($1.84), Manning ($1.81) and Florence ($1.82) reporting the lowest prices.
