Merry Christmas! Check these gas prices before you hit the road for the Christmas holiday… Prices along I-95 have dropped a few cents over the last few days. The highest gas prices along I-95 continue to be in Connecticut, in the $3.50 to $3.64 range. The lowest gas prices are showing up in Ashland, Virginia ($3.07), Manning ($3.05), Santee ($3.06), and Walterboro ($3.04), South Carolina. From Virginia south to Georgia, gas prices are generally in the $3.10 to $3.30 range.

Listed below are the average posted gas prices as of Friday, December 23, 2011 for unleaded regular gas at selected I-95 exit cities.

DOT Launches Nationwide Crackdown On Drunk Drivers

The holiday season brings with it office parties, seasonal celebrations and trips to see family and friends. For many people, that means having a few drinks. The U.S. Department of Transportation wants to make sure these revelers stay out of the driver’s seat.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced on Tuesday at the Arlington County Courthouse a nationwide crackdown during the holiday season. The effort will involve a combination of enforcement and reminders that police and other agencies will be out in force over the holidays.

Georgia DOT Limits Thanksgiving Lane Closures on I-95

Georgia DOT is suspending construction-related lane closures beginning at 5 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, and extending until 10 p.m., Sunday, November 27.

The Department reminds travelers to exercise caution nonetheless as heavy holiday traffic is expected throughout the state. Crews may still be working and heavy equipment may remain staged in close proximity to highways and safety concerns may require some long-term lane closures remain in place.
