I-95 Nighttime Lane and Ramp Restrictions Scheduled in Philadelphia

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled this week along Interstate 95 for construction at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73), Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue and Girard Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced. Lane restrictions also will be in effect on Aramingo Avenue at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange.

Construction is associated with contracts underway to improve the ramp system at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange and to rebuild the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges and reconstruct and widen more than three miles of I-95 adjoining those interchanges.

Through Saturday, February 6, the Princeton Avenue on-ramp to I-95 north will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north on State Road, then left on Linden Avenue, then right on the ramp to I-95 north at the Academy Road Interchange.

Through Saturday, February 6, the I-95 north off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73) will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north on I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on Linden Avenue, and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73).

On Tuesday, February 2, through Thursday, February 4, motorists using the ramp from I-95 north to Aramingo Avenue at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange will encounter lane restrictions and periodic traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for installation of construction barriers on the ramp.

On Tuesday, February 2, through Thursday, February 4, lane closures and periodic traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes are scheduled on Aramingo Avenue in the vicinity of the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for beam setting operations on the overhead ramp.

I-95 and Aramingo Avenue motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays when entering the work zones. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Lane Closures on I-95 in Rhode Island This Week

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is reporting that two right lanes on I-95 in Providence will be closed this week.

I-95 South, from Exit 22 (Downtown Providence/Rtes. 6 & 10) to just south of Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.), will have two right lanes closed for construction, nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Closures will take place from Sunday, January 31 thru Thursday, February 4, 2016.

New Jersey Turnpike Exit 14A Construction Update

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has announced the following work over the next few weeks on the Exit 14A Improvement Project, which is located in the cities of Bayonne and Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ.

Toll Plaza

  • East side (entering 14A): renovation of existing Toll Utility Building will continue.
  • Construction continues on the new east Toll Lane.
  • Eastbound E 53rd Street is closed to through traffic at Avenue E (Toll Plaza) effective 11/09/15. Drivers wishing to access the Toll Plaza must go down another eastbound street to Avenue E (51st, 49th, etc.) Access to local businesses (QuickChek, Value City, etc.) on E 53rd Street is maintained. Westbound 53rd Street from the Toll Plaza to Broadway will not change. The Eastbound closure is expected to be in place for six (6) months. This is a major traffic change.
  • Traffic from the Toll Plaza to Port Jersey Boulevard and Route 440 has been shifted left (east), onto the existing (one-way) bridge in a two-way pattern. This is a major traffic shift.

Ramps between the Toll Plaza and the Hudson County Extension (HCE)

  • Widening construction continues on the ramps to and from the west bound HCE.
  • Local street level work at Garfield, Avenue C and JFK Boulevard bridges continues. This work will also be supported by Jersey City and Bayonne Police as needed.

  • Proposed Sign Structure Locations adjacent to the corner of Avenue B / E58th Street Corner, corner of Avenue C Structure and Garfield Avenue Structure (PSE&G Sub-Station), Toll Plaza Parking Area will be constructed. When needed, Bayonne PD or Jersey City PD will be asked to support this effort.
  • Work continues on a VMS Sign Structure under the Turnpike Bridge over Route 440, near the Newark Bay. Access is being provided from Route 440.

Avenue E / Proposed Roundabout

  • Deep foundation work on new bridge piers will continue. This work will be performed in dedicated work zones.
  • Northbound Avenue E traffic has been shifted to a new alignment, east of the Connector Bridge, between E50th Street and the Toll Plaza. The left turn at 53rdStreet is no longer available.
  • Bridge pier construction will continue in dedicated work zones. Periodic closures of E52nd Street will be utilized. This work will be supported by Bayonne Police.

Connector Bridge (Bridge from the Toll Plaza to Port Jersey Boulevard)

  • A two-way traffic pattern has been implemented on the bridge ramp from Port Jersey Boulevard to the Toll Plaza.
  • Pedestrian usage of the bridge for access to and from Port Jersey Boulevard continues to be prohibited. Please CLICK HERE for shuttle bus pamphlet.

Route 440 and Pulaski Street Intersection / Jughandle

  • The southbound Route 440 Jughandle at Pulaski Street has been reduced to a single lane. Deep sewer construction continues.
  • Utility relocation work will continue on Pulaski Street at Route 440. This work will be supported by Bayonne and Jersey City Police.

Ramp Area East of Route 440

  • Ground improvement work in advance of new ramp construction continues.
  • Deep sewer relocation work will continue.

Lane Closures on I-95 in Northern Florida This Week

The Florida Department of Transportation announced the following lane closures on I-95 this week:

– Nighttime northbound lane closures on I-95 from County Road 210 to Old St. Augustine Road Wednesday (January 27) and Thursday (January 28) from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and nighttime northbound road closure from midnight to 5 a.m. to install overhead structures and signs for State Road 9B.  Detour is County Road 210, Philips Highway, Old St. Augustine Road to I-95 northbound.

– Nighttime lane closures on I-95 at Butler Boulevard through Thursday (January 28)  from 8:00 p.m. to 6 a.m. to move temporary barrier wall to prepare for traffic shift.

– Nighttime northbound off-ramp lane closures to eastbound Butler Boulevard at I-95 through Thursday (January 28) from 8:00 p.m. to 6 a.m. for new ramp construction. Detour is Bowden Road u-turn to I-95 southbound to Butler Boulevard.

– Daytime closure of the northbound emergency lane on I-95 northbound at I-295 West Beltway through Thursday (January 28) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for routine overpass maintenance.

– Daytime closure of emergency lanes on I-95 over the Fuller Warren Bridge through Friday (January 29) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

– Nighttime northbound lane closures on I-95 over the railroad tracks just south of Crestwood Street Wednesday (January 27) from 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for routine overpass maintenance.

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled this week along Interstate 95 for construction at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced. Lane restrictions also will be in effect on Aramingo Avenue at the Girard Avenue Interchange.

The work is associated with improvements underway to rebuild the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges, and reconstruct and widen more than three miles of I-95 adjoining those interchanges.

The work schedule is as follows:

• Through Saturday, January 30, I-95 north will be reduced to two lanes at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for the removal of sheet piles used to support the northbound embankment during construction. The widened northbound embankment is now supported by permanent retaining walls that were built in that area of the work zone.

• Through Saturday, January 30, the Princeton Avenue on-ramp to I-95 north will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north on State Road, then left on Linden Avenue, then right on the ramp to I-95 north at the Academy Road Interchange.

• Through Friday, January 29, motorists using northbound and southbound Aramingo Avenue at the Girard Avenue Interchange will face lane closures and periodic traffic stoppages from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for overhead construction.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and delays entering the work zones.
