AAA forecasts that 43.6 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home over the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday weekend. That number is expected to travel between next Wednesday and the following Sunday represents a slight increase over the 2011 Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Despite gas prices that set calendar day records almost every day since August, road trips continue to make up the bulk of Thanksgiving travel. Gas prices along heavily traveled Interstate highways, including I-4, I-5, I-10, I-75 and I-95 are slightly more than the same period last year. Air travel is expected to decrease about 3 percent this Thanksgiving holiday.
