The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that lane closures are scheduled next week on northbound Interstate 95 in Philadelphia and westbound Interstate 76 in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, for bridge inspections.

The work schedule is:

– Monday, August 31, and Tuesday, September 1, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the left lane will be closed on northbound I-95 between the Island Avenue/Valley Forge (Exit 13) and Broad Street/Pattison Avenue (Exit 17) interchanges in Philadelphia;
– Wednesday, September 2, and Thursday, September 3, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be closed on northbound I-95 between the Island Avenue/Valley Forge (Exit 13) and Broad Street/Pattison Avenue (Exit 17) interchanges in Philadelphia;
– Monday, August 31, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the left lane will be closed on westbound I-76 at the U.S. 202 Interchange in Upper Merion Township; and
– Monday, August 31, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be closed on the westbound I-76 ramp to southbound U.S. 202 in Upper Merion Township.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel on northbound I-95 and westbound I-76 during the bridge inspections because slowdowns will occur.

The inspections, which are weather dependent, are part of PennDOT’s program to inspect state bridges at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and condition of the bridges.
