Halloween in Orlando – Halloween Horror Nights and More!

If there’s one thing Orlando knows how to do well, it’s celebrate!

Halloween is no exception and you’ll find that many of the ghostly-themed parties have already started well over a month before the official Halloween date.  The good news is, you don’t have to pick just one Halloween party in Orlando.  Get out your calendar and start making your rounds!

Where to Celebrate Halloween in Orlando

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando

Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights - when the website warns that this event may be too intense for children, they aren’t kidding.  Universal’s Horror Nights has a reputation for being scary as all heck, in a good way (if you’re into that sort of thing).  The theme for 2010 Horror Nights is HHNXX: Twenty Years of Fear.  Things will jump out at you and you will find yourself screaming in front of strangers.  Universal hires a “scream team” of designers who research the human psyche and its deepest fears in order to create the most terrifying experiences for guests.  Visit the Halloween Horror Nights event website for dates, times and ticket information.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party - on the complete opposite end of the spectrum is Disney’s very child-friendly Halloween celebration.  Guests are invited to dress in costumes and trick-or-treat throughout the Magic Kingdom after regular park hours.  Free face painting and Halloween goodies are available throughout the park.  Of course the evening ends with a parade and fireworks show. Check the website for dates, times and advanced ticketing information.

SeaWorld's Spooktacular in Orlando

An “Ocean of Halloween Fun” at SeaWorld – the best part about SeaWorld’s Halloween festivities is that you don’t have to purchase an additional event ticket.  Most of the seasonal festivities are included with your regular admission price. Children are invited to trick-or-treat through SeaWorld in costume, hunt for hidden treasures using a special map, and enjoy a cookie decorating station.  You can also purchase additional access to a special breakfast with Sesame Street’s Count or a SeaWorld sleep over.  Check out SeaWorldSpectacular.com for information on this event at the Orlando and San Diego locations.

Old Fashion Trick-or-Treating in Avalon Park

Avalon Park Spooktacular – don’t have the budget or patience for an amusement park party?  Head to Avalon Park on October 30 from 5pm to 9pm for trick-or-treating, costume parade and pumpkin carving.  Can’t you trick or treat anywhere?  Hypothetically.  But Avalon Park puts small town living near Orlando with its safe, family-friendly events.  If Norman Rockwell ever moved to Florida, he would have lived in Avalon Park.
