I-95 Gas Price Update – Wednesday, May 9, 2012
I-95 Gas Price Update: Gas prices have continued to drop along I-95 over the past several weeks. This week, prices have fallen an average of about 5 cents. Connecticut remains the state with the highest gas prices along I-95. Bridgeport is showing $4.10 a gallon for regular unleaded. The lowest gas prices continue to be in the Carolinas with Santee, ($3.57), Manning ($3.58) and Florence ($3.59), South Carolina having some of the lowest prices. From Virginia south to Georgia, gas prices are generally in the $3.60 to $3.85 range.
Listed below are the average posted gas prices as of Wednesday, May 9, 2012 for unleaded regular gas at selected I-95 exit cities.

Bridge at I-495, I-95 in Massachusetts Dedicated
Family members, State Police, and elected officials gathered in Foxborough today to formally dedicate the bridge at the interchange of Interstates 495 and 95 in honor of Sergeant Douglas Weddleton, who died in the line of duty in June 2010. The bridge, which is near where Weddleton died, will now be known as the “Sergeant Douglas Weddleton Memorial Bridge,” State Police said.

DC Beltway Exit Bottleneck to Open Up This Weekend in Express Lanes Work Zone
A bottleneck for drivers on the Capital Beltway’s inner loop near Tysons Corner is about to open up.
The Virginia Department of Transportation plans to restore the fourth lane on Interstate 495 North at I-66 and open a fifth lane that will benefit drivers coming from I-66 East and heading for the inner loop’s exit to Route 7.

Drivers Worry DC Beltway HOT Lanes Will Increase Congestion Near Potomac River
I noticed during Monday’s online chat that many travelers were writing to ask practical questions about the uses of the 495 Express Lanes, the high occupancy vehicle lanes scheduled to open by the end of the year. I’ll try to post several of your concerns this week, starting with this question about whether the northern part of the system is useful at all.
Speed Limit to Lower on I-95 in South Florida
The change in speed limit is set between the Miami-Dade and Broward County line and north of Griffin Road for now, but will move upward along with construction. When it does, I-95 south from Sunrise Boulevard will have the new speed limit.
Bridge Work Continues On Virginia I-95 This Week
RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) – If you use 95 North or South through the city you could run into major delays due to bridge work. Crews will be on scene from 8pm to 6am this week at the Boulevard. Some nights only one travel lane could be open in each direction. Use caution around mile marker 78. Crews may shut down the exits in that area as well. You can use 195 or 295 as an alternate.
