Unfortunately, gas prices continue to rise… Prices along I-95 have seen an increase about 5 cents a gallon over the last week. The highest gas prices along I-95 continue to be in Connecticut, in the $3.71 to $3.85 range. The lowest gas prices continue to be in Richmond, Virginia ($3.37), and Walterboro ($3.38), and Manning ($3.37) South Carolina. From Virginia south to Georgia, gas prices are generally in the $3.40 to $3.60 range.

Listed below are the average posted gas prices as of Thursday, February 2, 2012 for unleaded regular gas at selected I-95 exit cities.

A ramp at one of the major Capital Beltway interchanges in Virginia is scheduled to close overnight for work on the high-occupancy toll lanes project.

At the Springfield interchange, the Virginia Department of Transportation plans to close the exit from the inner loop to southbound Interstate 95 — the Richmond-bound side — from 9 o’clock tonight to 5 a.m. Wednesday.

January 25 from midnight to 5 a.m., Exit 9 CLOSED from I-95 southbound to US Route 202 northbound.

Detour: I-95 southbound traffic will exit south onto Marsh Road to south on Market Street and return to US Route 202 northbound.

WHAT: The contractor Mumford & Miller Concrete, Inc., will be removing the existing striping and placing new striping plus the placement of a temporary barrier wall along the right side of the ramp for construction of an additional lane.

North Carolina Troopers Cracking Down on I-95 Construction Zones

ROANOKE RAPIDS — Construction zones and speeding cars can be a deadly combination. Highway patrol officers in Halifax and Northhampton Counties say the problem on one section of Interstate-95 is so bad they’re going to do everything they can to nab unsafe drivers.

The construction zone has been in place for weeks, but troopers say drivers heading both north and south continue to speed through the area instead of slowing down. The stretch of I-95 containing the construction zone has a 65 mph speed limit, but within the zone, the limit is 55 and, in some sections, 45 mph. People seem to be ignoring the lowered limits and troopers say that is dangerous, since the construction zones are unfamiliar territory.
