Downs Boulevard (Exit 270) is scheduled between 9:30 p.m. tonight (Monday, May 7) and 6 a.m. Tuesday (May 8). Therefore, by 6 a.m. Tuesday, northbound traffic will be using the new, temporary bridge, weather permitting. During this overnight period, expect one of the two lanes to be closed on northbound I-75 in this area.

Main points for drivers

  • Be alert to the alignment change. South of the bridge, the travel lanes will curve to the right (towards the exit ramps), then straighten out and cross Bruce B. Downs Blvd., then curve to the left to rejoin the original alignment.
  • The posted speed limit through the temporary lanes and bridge will be 55 MPH (posted speed north and south of the interchange is — and will remain — 60 MPH during the rest of the project).
  • Northbound traffic will use the bridge for about 2 years as the two existing bridges are demolished and rebuilt.
    • The next step will be to switch southbound traffic to the old northbound bridge. This is expected within the next two weeks.
