TOP 20 Attractions in San Diego: Part 2

by Tamara Rice of The Rice Paper

We promised you 20 fun things to do and see in San Diego, California, and we’ve already given you Part 1. Now welcome to part two. Here are the final 10 attractions you can’t miss:

  1. Mission Gorge. That’s right, you can even go mountain-climbing or GPS-exploring in San Diego with Front Range Climbing Co. But don’t take my word for it. Take his.

  2. Petco Park. No, it’s not for pets. It’s the home of the San Diego Padres, and apparently the view from the top is as good as the view from the front row, if you ask Betsy.

  3. Carlsbad Flower Fields. While you are slightly north for Legoland, stop off and take in the pretty blooms at the Carlsbad Flower Fields.

  4. Balboa Park. No trip to San Diego would be complete without this stop. One need not even go inside the many museums and exhibits to appreciate the beautiful gardens, architecture and the wonder of “A Day at Balboa Park.”

  5. Natural History Museum. While you are at Balboa Park, you’ll have to stop at the Natural History Museum and get a look at the fossil exhibit. Sadly, the famous Pompei exhibit has moved on.

  6. Qualcomm Stadium. The home of the San Diego Chargers is a great place to watch a professional football game–when they are winning, that is.

  7. Whale Watching. It’s not everywhere in the US that you can see a whale. Or an ocean. That’s why you should probably do both here.

  8. Presidio Park. On a clear day, this is the best place to be. The historic Presidio Park is also listed in our 5 stop architectural tour of the city.

  9. Mission Beach. If you just want to lay around, bike around or if you are tired of all the touring, this quaint little beach town is for you.

  10. Birch Aquarium at Scripps. This place isn’t Sea World and wasn’t meant to be. Birch Aquarium is a place of learning and research. No rides, but much to love.
