Georgia I-75 Update
TIFTON — Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation will perform major reconstruction of Interstate 75 at different locations between Exit 37/Adel-Old Quitman Road and the Crisp/Dooly County line.
VDOT Opens Construction Lanes for Weekend
To ease travel during the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will open those lanes temporarily closed for construction or maintenance on major highways and roads. The lanes will be open from noon Friday, Sept. 4, until noon Tuesday, Sept. 8. Long-term construction zones with concrete barriers and orange barrels will remain in place.

See the Sun Rise Before Anyone Else in the US
Sunrise on Cadillac Mountain
The easternmost point on the continental US is West Quoddy Head, near the town of Lubec, Maine. If a person wanted the unique designation of seeing the sun rise in the United States before anyone else, that is where he or she would need to travel. While West Quoddy is a beautiful destination, has a lovely historic light house, and offers incredible views across the ocean, there is another spot in Maine that is actually more popular for sunrise enthusiasts.
The view from Cadillac Mountain
Travel about two hours south of Lubec to Cadillac Mountain in Bar Harbor. This 1532 foot peak is stunning at any time of the day, at any time of the year (though most spectacular during the fall foliage display) and boasts a 360 degree panoramic view of forests, the town of Bar Harbor itself, and the Pacific ocean. The sunrise from this vantage is a uniquely beautiful experience. In fact, some people attain the peak of Cadillac Mountain at 11:59 p.m. on December 31st, in order to be among the first to usher in the New Year. In case you didn’t realize, it’s darn cold at 11:59 p.m. on December 31st in Maine. Others, somewhat less crazy, wait until sunrise on the peak. Still. It’s January. In Maine.
I’ll wait until summer, thanks.
The road to the summit is 3.5 miles long and is open year-round (unless dense fog or ice require a temporary closure), so no hiking is necessary unless you want to. Get up early, explore the summit and surrounding areas of Acadia National Park, and then get yourself a cozy breakfast (and coffee!) at one of the many restaurants in the village.

I-95 DC Beltway Lane to Close Overnight Tuesday
As part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project, weather the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway will be reduced to one lane overnight between the Eisenhower Connector and east of Telegraph Road on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning for bridge work.
A Video Tour of Bok Tower

Look, if you haven’t visited Bok Tower Gardens, you really need to. Built in 1926, Bok Tower is a 205-foot structure that houses one of the world’s most impressive carillons. And guess what? I got to ring one of the 16-ton bells!

I-95 Construction to Affect Traffic in Florida This Week
Ongoing construction in a 15-mile-long section of Interstate 95 in St. Lucie County will affect traffic when some lanes are closed during the week of Aug. 30- Sept. 5, Florida Department of Transportation officials report.
I-95 Alternate Routes Traffic Alert: Bay Bridge Delays
Forecasts of rough weather in the hours ahead may cause operators of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to cancel normal two-way traffic modifications intended to ease the flow of weekend traffic to and from the Eastern Shore and beach destinations. If traffic conditions on Friday and Saturday necessitate two-way operations, officials say they will implement this traffic pattern once weather conditions improve.
New Ohio I-75 Exit to Boost Development
The long-awaited Liberty Interchange project will be finished in October, clearing the way for hundreds of acres of development in the fast-changing suburban area between Cincinnati and Dayton.
